Robot Soccer
I am a member of the AustinVilla robot soccer team. Over the course of 2010 and 2011 I have primarily worked on the perception problem in the Standard Platform League (SPL). I am responsible for the new vision module in place since 2010, and have tinkered with most other parts of the code.
In my time working for AustinVilla, we have secured 3rd place overall in the SPL at RoboCup 2010 and 1st place at the US Open 2010. In 2011, we reached the quarter finals at RoboCup.
Autonomous Vehicles
Since the summer of 2010, I have also been a part of the autonomous vehicle project “Marvin” at UT Austin. My initial research focused on detecting drivable surfaces using laser rangefinder data, and later encompassed all facets of the software infrastructure. It is through this project I have become familiar with Robot Operating System (ROS) framework and now plan on using it in future efforts.
I served as the Teaching Assistant in Spring 2011 for the Freshman Research Initiative (FRI) class with the project. Starting Fall 2011, I have been been the primary instructor for the course.
